The flats are in two-storey buildings with a delightful garden for the use of residents. The flats consist of a large room and a separate kitchen/diner and bath/shower room. There is also a community room, a laundry and a guest room. The condition of the flats is reviewed annually and we have an ongoing programme of maintenance, redecoration and refurbishment.
The Friendly Almshouses are in Stockwell Park Road, just off the Brixton Road and in walking distance from shops, mainline and underground stations and many bus routes. Vehicular access is via Rumsey Road. Click on "How to find us" (left) for more details.
There are two Wardens, one of whom lives on site; they provide pastoral and some practical support (but not nursing or personal care). Each flat is equipped with an emergency call system, which contributes to our residents being able to live independently for as long as possible. The wardens organise various activities for those residents who wish to join in. These include coffee mornings, parties, barbecues and outings. A desktop PC with free internet access is provided for the use of residents
Clerk to the Trustees/Operations Manager
Working directly with the Committee/Trustees, the Clerk is responsible for all aspects of the management and administration of the Charity. Residents can approach the Clerk for advice and help with practical matters such as maintenance of the flats or financial concerns.
